Please ensure your room is well lit. Take a few steps back and let your camera see more of the scene.
On creating this hand-varnished giclée on boxed board and first ever triptych, Jon wrote: “I’m proud to be releasing this. A cigarette can be a useful prop for setting the scene. For example, the Hollywood actor Steve McQueen was often filmed or photographed smoking, and it became part of his persona. There’s something about the way a person lights a cigarette.”
The dramatic contrasts of light and shadow in this piece create a sombre look that reflects the dark history of the Peaky Blinders. What's more, the monochromatic tones also mirrors the historical photographs of Birmingham that Jon draws his inspiration from.
Framed in textured black radiata pine, the shadowy atmosphere of this piece is echoed across his Spring/Summer 2021 release; discover more here.

Figurative artist Jon has enjoyed sell-out success in both the UK and Australia. He has been shortlisted for several prestigious awards, including the BP Portrait Award hosted by the National Portrait Gallery in London. Often depicting celebrities or the Peaky Blinders gang, his haunting portraits are perfect for both traditional and contemporary spaces. A 50-metre mural created from his original paintings is currently on display outside Birmingham's New Street station to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
