Inspired by the ethereal nature of women, Emma Grzonkowski fuses reality with fantasy for her stunning new collection, Eden. The original paintings were showcased at our Manchester gallery in December 2018, with our artspace transformed into a floral Utopia!
The body of work takes its title from the Garden of Eden. From irises to dahlias and gardenias, the figurative artist explores the symbolism of flowers and their historical legacy with a noticeably broader colour palette and bolder energy inspired by the hip-hop genre and artists like Alphonse Mucha and Frida Kahlo.
Emma explains: "The garden relates to the idea of creation and a fresh start, which is represented in the collection's narrative undertones. My figures are frozen in an existential, dreamlike state. It's about seeing into the future and laying the past to rest."
Emma featured in the November issue of the bestselling lifestyle magazine, Cheshire Living, sharing her story of how art has helped her through difficult times in her life.
She reveals: “The source of my artwork always stems from an emotion or energy that I want to convey on the canvas from within. The nucleus of my work revolves around matters of the heart, either from my own feelings and personal experiences or from identifying with other people and translating their emotions."
Our blooming marvellous collection features limited edition and original artworks from some of our most popular artists, with mediums ranging from giclées to wall sculptures. Here's the best of the bunch.
The figurative artist was commissioned to create a piece to mark Spotify's first live music event. Her vibrant painting captures musicians including Dizzee Rascal and Cardi B, and now hangs in Bugzy Malone's home.
